This is a bud vase made from pure copper. We use antique and contemporary metalsmithing tools and techniques to form and texture the metal. This design has a top that resembles a lily and a traditional graceful hour glass shape to the body. To make the shape we forge the copper using a number of different hammers and tools; then hand paint the images on the surface of the copper using special paint. The copper is then etched using electrical current. The bronze color is applied in several layers until we like the color, then buffed to enhance the subtle details of the etchings and our hammer marks. Lastly, we wax the surface to protect the patina from water. One of a kind.
